Month-end doesn’t end when the numbers are pulled. It ends when the story is written.

The close itself is the easy part. What takes the real hours is turning a variance dataset into something the board, the ops heads, or the CFO can actually act on — the narrative, the plain-English formula logic, the AP/AR follow-ups nobody has time to personalise. That work usually happens the night before the meeting, in someone’s head, and it leaves the room the moment that person is on leave.

This session gives your finance team a repeatable way to do that work with Claude — inside real month-end tasks, not generic AI demos.

Four finance workflows, built live in the room

Reporting

Turn a variance dataset into a board-ready narrative — so decks take minutes to draft, not hours.

Excel

Build and document complex formulas in plain English — so the logic survives when the person who wrote it moves on.

Budgeting

Model budget scenarios with assumptions stated in plain English — so non-finance stakeholders can follow the reasoning.

AP/AR

Draft a library of collection follow-up messages — so payment velocity improves without every email being written from scratch.

30+ years turning data into decisions, before AI made it faster

This session is built and led under Jane Chew’s 30+ years of combined experience in CRM, loyalty and data-driven marketing at OCBC Bank, OgilvyOne and Aimia — the same discipline of turning raw numbers into decisions your business can act on, now applied to Claude AI. It sits inside DigitalAI Business Club’s Level 1–3 Claude AI for Business pathway, as the Level 2 function-specific session for finance teams.

Hour by hour

Hours 1–2 — Numbers to Narrative

Convert a real variance dataset into a management narrative. Build a custom Excel formula toolkit, documented in plain English as you go.

Deliverables: board narrative draft + Excel toolkit

Hours 3–4 — Budget & Follow-Up

Model budget scenarios with stated assumptions. Create an AP/AR follow-up message library, then package the whole workflow as a reusable Claude Skill for the team.

Deliverables: budget model + message library + team Skill

Who this session suits — and who it doesn’t

This suits you if you’re:

  • A finance manager or FP&A analyst managing the monthly close
  • An AP/AR executive handling recurring collection cycles
  • A finance business partner translating numbers for operational teams
  • A team with prior Claude AI training — or complete beginners; a 15-minute orientation is included

This isn’t the right fit if you:

  • Want to build custom finance software or dashboards — see our Level 3 programme instead
  • Want a general Claude introduction with no finance focus — see our Level 1 programme instead
  • Are booking a mixed, cross-departmental cohort — this session is designed for one department at a time

Five things your team takes back to the desk

  • 1A board-ready variance narrative template your team can reuse every month
  • 2A custom Excel formula toolkit with plain-English explanations
  • 3A budget scenario model — base, stretch and conservative — with stated assumptions
  • 4An AP/AR follow-up message library for consistent, faster collections
  • 5A reusable Claude Skill that packages the complete month-end workflow for the whole team

FAQ

What’s the difference between this and the main Claude AI for Business course?

This is a function-specific, four-hour session built entirely around finance workflows — variance narratives, Excel, budgeting and AP/AR. The main Claude AI for Business pathway is a broader, full-day introduction across departments.

Does our team need prior Claude AI training before this session?

No. A 15-minute orientation is built into the start of the session, so complete beginners and teams with prior Claude training can sit in the same room.

Is this session HRDC SBL-Khas claimable?

Our full-day courses are confirmed SBL-Khas claimable. Claimability for this half-day format is being confirmed — ask us for the current status when you book.

Can other departments join our finance team’s session?

No. This session is designed and paced for a single department only, so the exercises stay specific to real finance workflows rather than generic examples.

Can this be delivered on-site at our office?

Yes. We run it on-site at your office, or at a venue of your choice, as a morning (9am–1pm) or afternoon (1pm–5pm) session.

How much does it cost?

Indicative pricing is RM480 per participant, minimum 6 participants, with a flat department rate available. Final pricing and HRDC claimability are confirmed once we understand your team’s size and format.
